- Q: What is TaterEdit ?
- A: TaterEdit is a plain text editor. It aims to provide a powerful and easy to use text editor in all desktop environments: Windows, Linux, and MacOSX.
- Q: Can I use TaterEdit freely ?
- A: TaterEdit hopes to provide everyone a modern text editor in all desktop environments. So TaterEdit is free for personal and educational purpose.
- Q: Does TaterEdit support Unicode ?
- A: Yes, TaterEdit support UTF-8, UTF-16LE, UTF-16BE. The right-to-left is not support yet.
- Q: Which desktop environments does TaterEdit support ?
- A: TaterEdit supports Windows, Linux, and MacOS X. The priority of Window version is the highest.
- Q: How to get TaterEdit news automatically ?
- A: TaterEdit provides RSS news, you can subscribe it using http://www.textstarter.com/rss.xml. There are some free RSS readers, Google Reader, Bloglines.
Windows
- Q: How to use default config ?
- A: The user data is stored in user's home directory: C:\Documents and Settings\<YourUserName>\.tater. To use default config, you can remove your personal config directory manually. And TaterEdit will use default config data in next startup.
Linux
- Q: How to activate input method on Linux machine ?
- A: First of all, make sure you have installed input method engine correctly (check your language package). In TaterEdit, choose one input method engine under Tools menu. The input method engimmay not activated unless the editing window get focus event. If you change the input method engine, it is recommend that you should change the focus to other window, then back to original window.
- Q: How to use default config ?
- A: The user data is stored in user's home directory: /home/<YourUserName>/.tater. To use default config, you can remove your personal config directory manually. And TaterEdit will use default config data in next startup.
MacOSX
- Q: How to change the locale of TaterEdit ?
- A: In Mac OS X, you have to change the i18n setting in System Preference, then restart TaterEdit.
